eyeGO to Theatre Collingwood this summer!

Theatre Collingwood proudly launches "eyeGO" to the ARTS.

EyeGoeyeGO to the ARTS is a national program dedicated to making the arts available to High School students. Less expensive than a movie, eyeGO empowers youth to consider live performances as a viable entertainment option.

For just $5 a ticket, High School students can attend any performance of Theatre Collingwood's summer theatre season. Tickets may only be purchased with a valid student ID card.

A limited number of eyeGO tickets are available for each of the 42 performances of Theatre Collingwood's summer season.

The arts foster an understanding of other cultures, histories, myths, values and beliefs.  What better way to challenge the senses, than to provide an affordable way to explore the world and the connection to human society through a LIVE theatre medium?

Youth across Ontario have discovered other friends who go to the theatre share like interests. They're not 'artsy fartsy'. In fact many have never even studied drama.  They're just average kids who like to talk about issues, ideas and like to share important thoughts.

States Artistic Director, Steven Thomas, "As an accredited teacher of drama, it's been my long-time personal goal to make the professional performing arts audience experience available to young people. Yet the cost of regularly priced tickets is generally out of sight, even for parents who are truly dedicated to exposing their kids to the arts. Having explored the concept over the past two years, the Board of Directors has taken a brave
step forward by launching this student discount program."

Theatre Collingwood proudly takes a leadership role in stimulating this long-term approach to changing the culture of secondary school students because of its own mandate Oto expose young people to the arts and bring theatre to a broad-based audience at an affordable cost.

EyeGo GroupHowever, eyeGO is more than just a discount ticket program. It's a grassroots movement to encouraging youth to participate in culture. Theatre Collingwood invites interested teens, parents and teachers to join our localeyeGO Youth Council. As ambassadors, the goal is to encourage friends to get out and enjoy theatre as well as connecting with other High Schools in the region. It also opens doors to volunteerism, co-op and paid positions in the arts industry.

Investing in this initiative for the inaugural year with no external funding, Theatre Collingwood hopes to engage interested individuals and corporate partners to help sustain the program.

eyeGO to the Arts was formally incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 2000 by community leaders in Ontario concerned with the need to develop the next generation of arts goers and participants. By 2004, the initiative was proven so successful that funding was received to expand the initiative nationally.

The eyeGO website lists all activities (music, dance and theatre) currently available to High School students:
