Chef Carter’s Story
Scott Carter, proprietor and head chef, has always had a passion for food. “I started cooking when I was a young kid, helping my grandmothers prepare family feasts. My uncle taught me how to make gravy when I was a boy”. Chef Carter is a graduate of the prestigious Chef School at George Brown College in Toronto.
The inspiration for the name of the restaurant came from the humble foods peasant farmers ate. Carter says, “They didn’t have the best cuts of meat, but they figured out a way to prepare and cook it so it was delicious.”
For Carter, the most important element is the food. “Regardless of what people order, my goal is simple: as soon as they take that first bite I want them to say ‘Oh my gosh, this is soooo good’.”
This is the second year the two organizaitons have worked together. Says Carter,
"We are thrilled to partner with our neighbours from Theatre Collingwood. We look forward to building a strong relationship to promote great theatre and fine dinning in downtown Collingwood."
