YOUTH OUTREACH

 

Established in 1984, Theatre Collingwood’s mandate is to present quality productions, events and educational activities which enrich the cultural life of our community.  When Steven Thomas was appointed Artistic Director in 1997, his ten year plan articulated programs to encourage young theatre goers. 

 

Half price theatre tickets for youth, eyeGO for high school students, a drama award to a graduating High School student, coop opportunities and volunteer placements for required community service hours, resource training and materials offered to area teachers, are just some of the initiatives undertaken.

 

It has been our vision to establish a formal theatre school for the past decade.  Informally, several of Steven’s proteges in acting and production have continued onto further training and professional careers.  We are passionate about offering our expertise to the youth of our community.
